Philippines bags the first ever bronze medal of in the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday (Monday in Manila Time).

Manila, Philippines - EJ Obiena of the Philippines made history today, by bagging the bronze medal in the recently held 2022 World Athletics Association and setting up a new Asian record in the men's pole vault with 5.94 meters performance. 


It is far behind from the 4th place finished, Thiago Braz of Brazil with 5.87 meters only and tied with Christopher Nilsen of the USA. This will be enough for Obiena to finished at 3rd place and captured the first bronze medal of the Philippines in World Athletics Championships.

Armand Duplantis of Sweden, took the Gold Medal by registering a 6.21 meters, and setting up a new world record, beating his own best record last World Athletics Championships.
